Holly Black contributed to the magazine d8 and worked as an editor for the publication as well, in 1996. Holly Black debated becoming a librarian but chose to focus on writing instead. Her first book was published in 2002 - a young adult fantasy novel titled Tithe: A Modern Faerie Tale. Holly married her high school sweetheart, an illustrator and web designer named Theo Black, in 1999. While furthering her education at Rutgers University she worked as a production editor on The Journal of Pain, a medical journal. Holly graduated from The College of New Jersey with a B.A. She was born Holly Riggenbach on November 10 th, 1971 in West Long Branch, New Jersey. Holly Black is an American writer best known for her children's book series The Spiderwick Chronicles.
